Women are the most sharing creatures in the world

November 23, 2010

The other day, I casually mentioned on my blog that I was thinking of sleep training Baby R. Two fellow mummies / mummy-to-be immediately dropped me notes to offer sleep training techniques that they learnt or have applied on their babies. It made me wonder again (as I did so many times before) that women are really the most sharing creatures in the world. This is especially evident when we are going through the pregnancy and baby-learning period. The circle of females in our lives – our mothers, grandmothers, aunties, sisters, gal-friends – become our network of support. Even female strangers will jump in to help if they see that you need help in this special period of time.

Indeed, when I faced difficulties learning how to breastfeed in the first two weeks of motherhood, I posted (another) casual note on my facebook account. Immediately, I had a torrent of replies from female friends who replied to show their empathy, and to offer helpful tips. Some of these were my sleeping facebook friends, whom I never knew existed!
